Kelly Slater just won yet another surf contest in some of the biggest
most challenging waves the world has ever seen for a surf competition.
There is no questioning that Kelly is the best surfer to ever ride a
board, but what's truly amazing is the fact that as one of the oldest
surf competitors left on the World Tour—Kelly is still surfing better
than everyone! He truly seems to be getting better with age. So what’s
his secret? Did he make a deal with the devil? Does he have magical
powers? Is he an alien? If you watched him surf at the Billabong Tahiti
Pro this year, all these theories wouldn’t be out of question. With all
the questions and speculation about how and why Kelly Slater is still
the best in the world after a decade of domination, the answer is pretty
simple- Kelly Slater takes care of himself. "You have to eat a good
spectrum of different foods,” said Kelly in a 2010 interview. "The
amount of sugar and processed foods the average American eats is
Kelly will be the first person to tell you that he believes 100% that diet, stretching, and exercise is the key to success not only in sports but in life as well. "I just feel better when I eat good food," Kelly says. 'There’s no real secret, just eating right, staying active, doing my best to live a clean lifestyle."
So no, Kelly Slater is not an alien, he is a freakishly talented individual and ten years from now, when he’s still schooling surfers half his age in the ways of modern surfing—no one will be surprised, especially not Kelly.
